As the spring semester comes to an end at IU, students can close out the semester with local music around Bloomington ranging from folk to salsa to indie rock music.
Thursday
Step Twins, an indie rock band, plays from 4:30-6 p.m. at the Peoples Park on Kirkwood Avenue for an all-ages free concert.
Folk artist Tim Grimm will perform at 7 p.m. at The Blockhouse Bar along with folk artist Sergio Webb. Grimm will perform songs from his “Bones of Trees” album, which was released April 4. Tickets are available for $15 for 21 and older audiences.
Friday
Funk, pop and R&B band Yours Truly will perform its last show of the semester at 9 p.m. as listed by The Bluebird. Tickets are $10 for 21 and older audiences.
The Blockhouse Bar will host Salsa Night with La Salsoteca Orquesta playing at 8 p.m. La Salsoteca Orquesta plays salsa and Afro-Latin dance music and is led by pianist Sergio Ospina Romero. Tickets are $10 for 21 and older audiences.
The Vault Pub, located in the Indiana Memorial Union, will have free live music from 7-9 p.m. Musician Kylie Miller is scheduled to perform for the night.
Saturday
The Bloomington Bluegrass Fest, open to all ages, will feature eight musicians performing outdoors from 3-11 p.m. at Upland Brewing Company. Tickets can be bought in advance for $20 and are $25 for day-of purchase.
The Emmy Award-winning IU African American Choral Ensemble will gather to perform from 7:30-10 p.m. at Ruth N. Halls Theatre for its Spring Concert series. Tickets are $10 for IU students, $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and $10 for children.
Indie rock and pop band Six Foot Blonde, along with Opal, will perform at 9 p.m. at the Bluebird. Tickets are $10 for 21 and older audiences.
